Insight GIS has won the award for Spatial Enablement at the 2018 Tasmanian Spatial Excellence Awards. The award was for the MAST GIS application which was developed with Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST).

This award recognises projects in which the application of location intelligence has greatly improved the outcomes for an organisation. It was the second year in a row that Insight GIS has won and follows on from last year’s People and Community Award for Kingborough Councils’ Local Links application.

MAST is the statutory authority in Tasmania that ensures the safe operation of vessels, provides and manages marine facilities and manages environmental issues relating to vessels.

MAST GIS has improved the access and the use of information to MAST, mooring owners and to the public. This has led to benefits in many business areas including the management of moorings, customer enqui­ries, resolving disputes and also improved efficiencies in the assessing of new applications and field auditing.
